Alex Dowsett (Israel Start-Up Nation) has won stage 8 of the 2020 Giro d'Italia. This marks the first-ever Grand Tour victory for the Israel Start-Up Nation Team.

“History was made today, as our Israel Start-up Nation rider Alex Dowsett prevailed to take the first Grand Tour victory in the team’s short existence. After Alex successfully attacked the day’s breakaway group from about 15kms from the finish the Eurosport TV announcers were shouting out our name ‘Israël’  and even ‘y’alla’ during Alex’s 20 minute solo ride to victory in recognition of this historic achievement. This excitement demonstrates that our project has significance beyond sport, showing the true heart of Israel to hundreds of millions of fans around the world. I could not be more proud.”
